Here are some pretty plates to serve guests with--The Life to the Full Collection!  Today is the LAST DAY to get your Life to the Full Collection for 30% off for the month of March! To get the discount you must use coupon code LIFE30 at checkout!

These joyful plates are gorgeous and a great way to share your faith with John 10:10 inscribed as the theme:

"I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full.... "

Can't you just see this festive looking pitcher on the patio in the summer by the pool ready to pour some nice cold lemonade?

These cozy mugs are great for a heart-to-heart conversation with two...some how hearts are just more open over a good cup of java or tea. Wouldn't you agree?

And while you are having guests over, why not share a good movie with them?

I remember one year having a HomeBuilder's meeting and having a large group of daughters watch 'The Return of the Daughters' and later discussing it and sharing their thoughts. We love to do this from time to time and these excellent movies are on sale right now until April 2nd.

This is one of my all time favorites and chock full of wisdom. When I first watched this I was overwhelmed with all the wonderful information that I watched it again the next night and wisely took notes. What Is Biblical Femininity? is now on sale at 55% off and only $6.80! So is Training Dominion -Oriented Daughters!

And Tea with Michelle Duggar only $3.00 (80% off)

And while you are busy cleaning your home for company, our family tends to like to listen to good music or a good sermon. Here are some GREAT deals-- SM Davis CD's for only $2.80 each!

I still love to have my children listen to What to Expect From a 12 Year Old when they are washing the dishes--it is SO convicting even to me as a mother of how I should raise them and the ones below. You can click on any of these images to listen to a sample.

Why Satan Wants Your Firstborn and What To Do About It--Is your oldest a rebel or a servant? This wonderful teaching on how the firstborn affects and influences the household and younger siblings. I love SM Davis and know many others who do as well.

And who doesn't need more wisdom in developing character in their children?
At only $2.80 these CD's are a steal--I paid much more for mine!

Exciting Spring Scentsy Giveaway!

Spring has sprung here at A Wise Woman Builds Her Home and we have an exciting giveaway from Scentsy to celebrate!

We are breaking out the lovely spring decor and what better way to add the finishing touches than with Scentsy wickless candles! They have some great new looks for spring--like the Dotty Warmer pictured above (on sale now for $27).

This Celtic Love Knot warmer -$30 can freshen up any home!

Scentsy wickless candles use a light bulb to melt wax cubes in a small plate, making it much safer than an open flame.  Safety is one of the major benefits of this product. No burning means no smoke in the air. The fragrant wax is chosen because it melts at a lower temperature and won't burn a child if they were to stick their hand in it. The warmer itself feels like a coffee mug when it is hot. They also have 80 incredible scents from which to choose that makes a better selection than an air fresheners from the store!

I LOVE this one---it is called the Grapevine Warmer. Isn't she gorgeous? I could think of about ten places I would like to see this warmer at in my home. The openings on the side also give a lovely glow on the walls in any room they are displayedand you can also buy mid-sized warmers starting at only $25.
These would make great gifts for Easter or Mother's Day!

They also sell plug in warmers as pictured below in nice spring colors and their scent of the month is Jumpin Jelly Bean. I also like the bars they have featured in their new Spring and Summer Collection. If you didn't also know they have a fabulous line of sprays, foams, travel tins, stuffed animals and more.

Would you like to find  Scentsy warmers for the men in your home?

The Patriot Collection has a warmer for every branch of service-Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force--even one for the Coast Guard!

And with baseball season starting this week, this Play Ball Warmer makes a great and timely gift for the sports enthusiast in your life. They also have a sports collection complete with basketball, soccer and football
(Shhh, don't tell my sons!)

Spring Is Here! Decluttering the Large Family

I am so happy that spring is finally here! The longer days, the birds singing, new life budding their heads in the garden, the fresh air----oh, what is there NOT to love about spring?

I have been getting around to spring cleaning, running around the house like a mad woman with trash bags and asking myself one key question:

"Do I want to take care of this for the next 10 years?"

Ha! That got things going pretty quickly! Let me just say I threw away bags and bags of things that I no longer had interest in or wanted to take care of. I remember as a young wife I was busy trying to do the opposite-- to collect items for our home and to fill it.... or even being sentimental about certain items that I though I could not part with,--but now I am more than willing to give/throw them away today! Why? Because in order to live a more simpler life that is rich with true living I can't confine myself to caring for alot of material possessions which actually take away from the real living that I desire to do!

I think having alot of things can imprison a person to some degree. American's have so much, we really need to teach our children the value of having little and getting with much less. I remember hearing of a missionary family that would feed their children on occasion a meal of plain potatoes to teach them how to survive on a simple meal if they ever became missionaries  and eating on leaves instead of plates. They knew if they became missionaries they would have to survive on much less, they did not want to raise discontented consumers but instead desired to raise children that could be content and live on the simple things in life if they would share Jesus with a lost world.

Simpler living can be achieved without the responsibility to the many unneeded items here on earth. We must protect that precious commodity that we can never get back:  TIME! Precious time to do the things we really want to do and share with those we love  because we only live once. Let's not spend it tirelessly taking care of the endless unneeded earthly possessions we own so that we can spend time on the ever important eternal.

Mothering Through Trials, Heartache and Diversity

God walks with mothers through heartache....

"The Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your soul in drought,
And strengthen your bones;
You shall be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water,
 whose waters do not fail.
 Isaiah 58:11

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Psalm 34:18-1

God walks with mothers through adversity...

And He said to me,
"My grace is sufficient for you,
for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

God comforts mothers as they learn to handle spiritual trials...

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you,
as though some strange thing happened to you;
but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings,
that when His glory is revealed,
you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
1 Peter 4:12-13

Found these in a little devotional book for mothers this morning--I pray that sharing it with you brings you
 HOPE AND COURAGE
if you are going through hard times.

Japan Update!

I am happy to announce that my grandmother and aunt are doing fine! My mother was in touch with them and their home is still standing but there is alot of debris all around it. Thank you so much for your prayers, inquiries and support! They have been comforting and meant so much at such a very troubling time. Here is an image of a boat washed ashore in their town:

As many of you know, Japan has suffered three major disasters--an devastating earthquake and tsunami and now a looming nuclear threat. Please continue to pray for them. We have asked my mother to come and join us in the states to live until the threat has passed--she is still considering whether or not she will.

Please pray for the Japanese people, to overcome all of this and seek the Lord as their Savior. Right now they are suffering also with a dwindling amount of food, water, medical supplies, etc.  If you are able to donate to help them here are some places you may do that at:

Thanks so much!

And for those who have contacted me to let me know you have friends and family there
I am still praying for them.

How to Make Money on Your Blog

Many of you know that I am an affiliate for Vision Forum--I have been honored to promote many of their products for building up strong Christian families and have been blessed through their teachings and not only that--but also by my earnings from there.

I have been able to use the extra money for all kinds of things---clothing, food, homeschool curriculum, date nights, paying bills, home repairs and decor, trips, birthdays, Christmas, costumes, donations, even a trampoline!

Did you know that you could easily become a Vision Forum affiliate as well and begin earning right away?

Many of you have shared with me about how you would love to just make even just a little income on the side.
Right now you can begin earning at 8% (up to 13%) through them as soon as you sign up. That is TWICE as much as Amazon! ( Just another reason why I love them!)

I also have many friends who are affiliates and can testify to it as well.

Have a blessed day!

If you are interested in how to further make money on your blog I am available for consulting!
Last year the Lord was kind enough to enable me to bring in six different streams of income just through my blog, I can teach you how too!

(If you have a new blog this is the perfect time to start learning the ropes--
how I wish I knew all of this back when I first started!)

Godly Resources for Raising Sons--- Part 1

"Dear Mrs. Fuentes, I have several sons, would you mind sharing some resources to help me raise them for the Lord?"
---a dear reader inquires.

Unsurprisingly, when I did a survey and asked all my readers what you would like to read more on--the majority vote was for more posts on raising sons!

Yes, raising boys is a HUGE task and  I have several favorite resources I would love to share. It is important to invest in godly resources that promote the biblical goals you have for your family, as it so easy to crash and burn or even be directionless running on auto pilot.  And just a quick note, if your boys are too young for these, don't think for one minute that these are not for YOU! This is the *perfect* time for mom and dad to learn how and why they should raise their sons and they will be much more equipped to do so after reading and listening to many of these resources below. I can't tell you how much it benefited me to have an understanding of boyhood and manhood before my boys got older.

Twenty-first century Christian boys have much to learn from boys of the past. Issues of courtesy to women, sacrifice, and vision are critical to raising modern boys. Our goal must be to move beyond the pretty platitudes and to aspire to rebuilding an entire culture of virtuous boyhood, such that every aspect of a young man’s life is preparation for chivalrous leadership in the name of Jesus Christ.

This one is a favorite, a classic and would love to pass these on to my children when they have their own family!

Don't be fooled by this title! This excellent book is broken up into chapter explaining how from the ages of 3-5 and up how to begin instilling character in your sons and using their gifts for God's glory. I learned so much from this book and it is still a favorite of mine.

This is what Polished Cornerstones is for daughters--also by Doorposts. Fully loaded with activities, Bible studies and encouragement to help your young son grow into a godly man.

How should young men treat young women “as sisters, with all purity?” Learn how to interact with girls; protect girls; handle flirtatious girls; and how to encourage your sisters in Christ. This message reveals the attitudes that three young men learned to cultivate as they listened to their father’s instruction, studied Scripture, and then interacted with the fair sex with gallantry and manliness.

This is a book that I have my sons working through for the past few years. It is broken up into 45 chapters of valuable Bible study with questions and answers. Everything from how to choose heroes, how to treat women, building relationships with siblings and much more goodness.

Thoughts for Young Men addresses the four great temptations that plague most young men: sloth, lust, love of pleasure, and peer pressure. J.C. Ryle, the last of the great Puritans, tackles each of these subjects with a tenderness and tact that is unsurpassed. First written toward the end of the nineteenth century, it remains to this day the most relevant and helpful book on the subject in print.

Have you ever wondered why so many Christian familes are losing their children to the world? Here is one reason: By failing to win, disciple, guide, and protect the eldest children, fathers and mothers often find a multiplicity of sorrows and divisions within the home.On the other hand, wise parents who seek the help of the Lord and carefully shepherd their eldest children often enjoy blessed reinforcement and encouragement in the training of the younger children. In this practical and scriptural look at the biblical principles of children and mentorship., Dr. S.M. Davis draws from the Apostle John’s letter to Gaius to illustrate how the actions of older siblings greatly influence the paths of younger children, for good or evil.

Still a favorite that I love listening to!

Listen to a sample here.

These are just a few for now,

I will do a Part 2, sometime very soon...

********************

Note: Not only are these resources very affordable but they are easily integrated into your homeschool curriculum as well. And don't forget about investing into grandsons lives too!

The Domestic Artist: Loveliness with Paper and Yarn...

Spring is around the corner and our lovely contributor,  Miss Jen of Blessed Femina is sharing a wonderful craft idea that will brighten up your home for the new season:

Alluring rain drops have been falling continually where
we are and I am enjoying these last days
with beautiful music, rich Bible verses and
busy hands.....

I am happily taking up
my crochet hook again...
remembering its many sweet benefits and delights.

A fresh new ball of crisp, silky blue
yarn... put to good use...

Paper Bouquets abound...

Here is a Short Tutorial for the
~Lovely Delights~

~What You Will Need~
-Sharp Scissors
-Beautiful Colored Tissue Paper
-Green Stem Wire or Green Pipe Cleaner
-Green Flower Tape or Satin Ribbon

Cut a few pieces (about 4-6) of tissue paper (crepe paper)
about 8 x 10 inches (the exact size doesn't matter).

Put the paper in a pile and fold it like an accordion.
Cut the edges straight or to add a special touch
scallop the edges prettily. ;)

Tie the center of the folded paper with green stem wire,
green pipe cleaner (or twist tie).

Gently pull each piece of paper towards the top center of the flower,
separating each sheet of paper from the others (forming the petals of the flower).

Once you have made your desired amount of flowers (4-6)
simply clump into a bouquet and wrap with green flower tape
and a satin ribbon (if desired)

And...

...you have just made a Lovely Paper Flower
Arrangement indeed!

Enjoy your....
Bouquet!
