Guarding the Quiet Pleasures of Homemaking

There is something to be said about all the hustle and bustle of today. It certainly can steal the richest qualities and moments of a persons life. If we do not take care to stop and look around--life will certainly pass us by.

I love when I get a chance to sit on my comfortable big couch and enjoy my front room. It is a pleasure to pull up a quilt that needs mending and begin working on it slowly. There is something about being able to just stop time and relish and savor the present golden moment.  Sometimes I like to think I am an old grandmother mending away in her favorite rocking chair as I thread my needle and savor the rhythm of basting stitches. There is just something so therapeutic about sewing that I noticed ever since I learned how to sew. Something so enjoyable and pleasurable.

It is funny how life can steal away even the most precious moments, we need to be so careful not to allow that to happen. Simplicity reigns when we guard the quiet pleasures in life, when we can guard some of the quiet times of homemaking and use that time to get alone with God.

If we take notice...it can truly recharge a weary soul.
